Take the Day off!
My son has a PA day today. I have to admit, sometimes I dread these days because I’m going to have to juggle work and kids – not always my favourite combination! There is, of course another option: take the day off, or even just a part of the day, and do something together.
Many people still don’t realize that Black Creek Pioneer Village is open every day of the week during the fall. And there’s always something going on. Just to give you an idea, here is today’s schedule of activities:
10:30 - Meet the Farmer
Meet at Second House Porch (building number #12 on the visitors’ guide map)
11:30 - Meet the Pigs!
Meet at Daniel Stong’s Piggery (building #8)

The piggery is part of the original Stong homestead, built on the banks of Black Creek by Daniel and Elisabeth Stong in the early 1800s.
1:00 - Goosey Gander
Meet at Burwick Barnyard (building #18 on the Village map)
2:00 - Butter Making
Meet at Second House (building #12)
12:30 & 3:15 - Behind Closed Doors Tours
Meet at Half Way House Porch (building #16, in the centre of the Village)
2:00 - Historic Brewery Tour
Meet at Half Way House Taproom (building #16)
It’s not too crowded during the week. A visit to the Village is interesting, fun, and a wholesome experience for you and your children. Check it out – and let me know what you think!
